- Good friend of ours Ian Neilson has had a project he’s been slowly working away at for the last year. It’s called Wildersound and the project is part acoustic live sessions, part nature recording and part music video. The locations he chooses are amazing, from beaches, to forests to open fields. Creator and director Ian says “NZ has loads of emerging talent and I love getting out in nature with with a camera. I did an experimental set with some musician friends and I was really happy with it so I stepped up my game for the new Season.” This season features new videos every week! You can check out the full selection of videos here. Season 2 planning is underway and if you’d like to be a part of it get in touch through the website.

News, bits and bobs:
– The other piece of exciting news to come out of the last week or two is the announcement of the Southern Fork Americana Fest 2016!
Returning for its third year, Vector Arena, 95bFM and Under the Radar are proud to announce another dazzling line up of international and local alt.country! Held at one of our favourite spots, The Tuning Fork, from October 7th until 16th, the lineup is indeed dazzling, with multiple names we love. I’m even going to post all the dates and acts here:

7 October: Skyscraper Stan and The Commission Flats (AUS/NZ) w/ Ravens (NZ)
8 October: Hayes Carll (USA) w/ Adam McGrath (NZ)
12 October: Robert Ellis (USA) + Joe Pug (USA)
13 October: Josh Rennie-Hynes (AUS) + Liam Gerner (AUS)
14 October: Lindi Ortega (CAN) + The Cactus Blossoms (USA)
16 October: ‘The Shape I’m In’ featuring Ebony Lamb (NZ), Tom Cunliffe (NZ), Hopetoun Brown (NZ) and more.

Look at that tasty lineup.

– What makes it even better is thatSkyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats are going on a nationwide tour around the Americana Fest and are hitting up both Islands of the country, all those dates can be found here.

– London based indie group The Veils (who are also linked to NZ through lead singer Finn Andrews) have just released the first single from their new album, Total Depravity, which is due out in a couple of weeks. Go check out the video here!

– More videos! So many videos this week, although this one does feature an interview. The Raven Mavens, a jazzy duo from Wellington, had a chat with Jesse Mulligan on Radio NZ. Check their video and have a listen to the full interview here.

– Something quite bluesy for you: Blake Mills

Brooklyn based via New Zealand group Streets of Laredo are releasing a new album on October 14th. This is the debut single and video of the forthcoming record. Tasty.

What we’ve been listening to this week:
We were stoked to be able to meet up with Jack Carty when we were in Sydney and have a drink. What a dude. He’s just released his best album to date, and one that was almost unexpected, recorded while ‘on a break’ at home. We had a great chat and will have a full interview going up before his Auckland release show on September 10th at the Wine Cellar
